If you have the disc version of the game, you will need to do a couple of things to get this working, assuming your other GFWL titles are working correctly ġ - During installation, set your computers date to somewhere between 2011-2012 - this will bypass the whole 'checking if the game is released' check.Ģ - You will need to install Patch 1.0.8.0 to play the game on Windows 8+ and to disable the Rockstar Social Club nonsense. Eventually he gave up and just used my disc copy. I witnessed this recently with my friend having a hell of a time getting Fable 3 Steam to even launch, or show anything other than black screens at times, where as my disc version went through just fine after getting past the Zero Day Protection nonsense. With GFWL games I would strongly recommend sticking to disc versions to avoid problems, especially since Steam 'takes care' of a few things with regards to GFWL, which sometimes adds to the confusion. I never touched Steam versions of GFWL games - it was double the DRM with double the possibilities of things going wrong.
